Invisible Barriers (University Project)

The project deals with the effect of the big city Berlin on the individual. Since industrialization, city dwellers pay little attention to the details of their surroundings. They run from appointment to appointment, building to building, train to train, always bound to the invisible barriers of the city and civilization. The interior design of my model is supposed to represent this phenomenon by the sparse furnishings and the shadowy figures. The space is reminiscent of a train station concourse, a characteristic element of industrialization. The outer skin consists of amesh/grid, which is reminiscent of a cell and is intended to illustrate the fact that humans are surrounded by the big city. The outside world is the Görlitzer Park. This former train station area has been turned into a recreation area. The permeable outer net, the large opening at the end of the tube, as well as the light inlet at the ceiling, places the urban development in context to the imprisoned urban lifestyle.
